Early Christmas morning, thousands of neighbors gathered in the main square of Santo Tomás, dressed in very elaborate costumes, danced regional music and shared the food.
While others joined from their homes, the crowd paraded towards the coliseum of the people's struggles, where thousands of participants and spectators - taken from nearby towns - already expected the beginning of the fights.
In the stadium, from the upper stands, the spectators drank and ate while encouraging the main fighters of their region.Several men, emboldened by alcohol formed their own fighting circles.Although some participants were preparing to solve true grievances, others seemed to fight only for sport.
The festivities continued a second day in the near town of Llique, where the fights were made in extensive pampas with grass.
