Mónica Pereira does not know what it is to sleep at home for years.Life on the wall only gives you to fish four dreams of sleep a day.Walking to Peixe is what you have.Fight for the best product and at the best price for your Fishing customers Loureda, at the Palloza dock.
-How is a day in your life?
—I'm five in the morning I am already for the fish market, I continue until four in the afternoon and at night I put the prices of the next day.At five in the morning they begin to call Celeiro, at six from Burela and there the wheel begins again.Ours is all day, girl.
"Should you choose?"
"My mother didn't want me to dedicate myself to this.In fact, the trade never taught me.
"What age began to work?"
"My father died and I already started working. At 21 I was a mother and now I'm a grandmother.
—I.
"I'm the third. My grandmother was shellfish in the Ría de O Burgo; She had the number 4 card.In those days, the estuary raised alone. It is also that, when they were going to sacha, they took care of her.Once they lifted the sand, they put it back to give again. The estuary, to give, you have to work and take care of it.
"His mother followed the tradition?"
"Yes, but the tide is at the time, she stayed a widow, she had three children and had to reconcile. My mother started selling fish in the street and then came to here, to the stalls in the old rindanga. Then he went to San Agustín and, finally, he opened the fish market that we have on the fallen avenue.
"But you resisted the subject.
—He tale, but I'm a disaster. Not like my mother, who is worth recording.Even today, where puts the spoon, there is something. He tells you things like "big eye, little eye, is a male"."Two small eyes, berobe".I saw so many eyes, I didn't give a.
"And you have to fold your back.
"I sat because I was pregnant and I couldn't [laughs]."There is no way!" My mother told me.She who, of course, takes a spoon, wraps the sleeve with insulating tape and, in a minute, she has a kilo of cockles!
"Discounted that way, where did you decide to throw?"
–It's replenished in Carrefour, I worked at an Inditex store, scrubbing pots in a bar, in a financial...
"A curranta, let's.
"Come to the Lonja threw me back, but, in the end, I decided. Now I have the kids in the stocks, but at first, I did everything alone. With the cold, they have my fingers without sensitivity cleaning chipirones.
"Were the beginnings hard?"
- I was like the fish, I sold it and distributed it.I was lucky to meet my husband (he was a butcher in Makro and I fishing) and he began to help me.
"What is more intríngulis, filtering a breast or hake?"
—The important thing is to handle the knife, that is not afraid.
—Your husband carries production, and you sell the sale and distribution. Here are more and more women.
-That's how it is.In height fishing we are less.In the daily fish market, we are more.
-But it is not easy.
—The issue of reconcile we have complicated.I, in order to come to work, have to have a person who arrives at my house at half past five in the morning and, you can imagine, that it is not easy for me to find someone like that. The same thing happens to all my market.
"Does solutions occur to you?"
"Some occur to me, yes.I do not understand how there is no nursery in the lonja of A Coruña.I don't understand.I, the first thing I would do is open a children's school here.It is essential.
"This work is very slave, but it also makes me happy," says Mónica Pereira (A Coruña, 1974), co -owner of Pescados Loureda.Starting from that premise, this fighter, brilliant activist of everyday life, as Guadi Galego would sing, decided to do something to return to society all that gratitude she feels. This occurred to him a solidarity action that has baptized as "fishing toys", a campaign that has the objective of making Christmas more bearable to minors who are hospitalized."Also for the effort of its professionals in the pandemic," he adds.
—It's a woman with corporate social responsibility.
—It is an honor that Galician hospitals have trusted us, since our firm is a fish and seafood supplier for several years. When we started, there was no one to put fresh fish in hospitals. The little that was put was of aquaculture, but fresh, of a fish market, nobody.
They were pioneers.
—We were the first to introduce fresh fish in hospitals.Today patients from here, Lugo, Ourense and Santiago consume fresh fish.
"What is more rewarding, fishing fish or toys?"
"To be able to fish toys I have to fish many fish before. If I'm not able to sell, I can't help you either.
"What are the needs of the people admitted?"
—We have new toys for the little ones;books, comics and crafts for adolescents;and shoes, pajamas and board games for adults.
"What do we tell who is reading this and wants to collaborate?"
—To all the information on the web www.PescadosLoureda.com.
