Tips for not being a fashion victim

Victim of fashionYou tend to buy on sales, everything that is in trend, you do not have your own style and more, are signs of being a victim of fashion. We tell you how to modify it.

By Alfonso Luna Soto

First let's define what a fashion victim is. If we translate it literally it would be: fashion victim, and we consider that the term in Spanish also applies quite well. In a simple way we can describe it as that person who -regardless of being a man or a woman- has no identity when dressing. In other words, he is guided only by passing trends, regardless of whether that garment or accessory is in tune with his style. With this we do not mean that including statement or trend pieces are prohibited in a look, what we want to make clear is that the fashion victim changes their style (their essence of clothing) every time a new trend emerges. For example, if floral prints are a trend today, the fashion victim will migrate her wardrobe to these patterns; but if in a couple of weeks, minimalist fashion gains popularity, our character will discard the florals, and switch to minimal, let's say he is a fashion chameleon.

For some brands, the fashion victim is the perfect client: a consumer, a fan of passing fads and, generally, does not wear the garments more than once. For us, a fashion victim is a person who needs to find their own style that defines them. Becoming a more conscious fashionista and in favor of sustainable fashion, in our opinion, buying-for-buying is out of fashion. What side are you on? Next, we give you a couple of tips to NOT become a fashion victim, and better to be a consumer with more awareness about your dress.

Consolidate a style

Tips to not be a fashion victim

Easy to say, but not so easy to do. Having a style can take a long time, the important thing is to experiment and discover the clothes, fits and colors that go best with you and, obviously, that make you feel comfortable. By having a consolidated style you are far from being a fashion victim, you will not buy without meaning, quite the opposite; You will clearly know what you need to look good.

Timeless purchase

We have said it several times in other articles, timeless garments are a must-have in any men's wardrobe. White shirts, black T-shirts, jeans and a good jean jacket will be pieces that never go out of style. Also, having these basics you can combine them over time with any other garment that is added to your wardrobe.

Make a good investment

The vast majority of fashion victims are characterized as compulsive buyers. It doesn't matter if the card is in the red, the urge to buy something trending is more powerful. Our recommendations to stay away from being a victim of fashion -indebted- are: first, do not abuse the credit card; second, knowing what clothes are necessary and worth investing in, for example, a coat is always a good option. Little by little you can start acquiring clothes that are truly worthwhile, taking into account the quality and long life they can have with you.

Beware of offers

The litmus test to see if you are a fashion victim. Keep in mind that when buying on sales we can find real jewels that are worth taking. But most of the time, that fashion victim will buy regardless of whether it is their size, whether the garment is damaged or even if it is a repeated garment; the important thing for him is to take the garment yes or yes. Avoid buying just to see the sales signs -we know, they are tempting-, if you do not need it, we believe that it is better not to take it.
