Cancun is the favorite honeymoon destination for Mexican couples, according to a survey.
61% of those surveyed favor trips to national beach destinations in Mexico and after Cancun, the most requested destinations are Vallarta, Acapulco, Cabo San Lucas, Mazatlán and Punta Mita.
For international destinations, 13% of couples opted for Caribbean islands such as Aruba and the Dominican Republic, as well as countries on the European continent (11%) such as Greece, Italy, France, Spain , according to the survey of the Bodas.com.mx portal in collaboration with Google and the Higher School of Business Administration and Management (ESADE) in The White Paper on Weddings.
The average cost of a honeymoon is 44,850 pesos (USD 2,200) per person, although the average for national destinations is 24,450 pesos (USD 1,200) and international ones is 77,220 pesos (USD 3,800).
The same survey highlights that 39% of couples mentioned that they chose the destination to spend their honeymoon based on its cost.
Similarly, 34.4% mentioned that they would choose a quiet place where there were no crowds and 31.5% indicated that they would opt for accommodation that gave them confidence regarding hygiene measures and sanitation protocols.
Finally, 29% of couples who will be getting married soon answered that they were waiting for the evolution of the pandemic situation to define when they would go on their honeymoon.
