Long relationships, short marriages
The Last Song co-stars were together (and engaged) for nearly four years before splitting in 2013, their young love seemingly having run its course as their respective evolutions took them in separate directions.
However, after what they would both recognize as an essential time apart, they reunited in late 2015. At first off the radar in Liam's native Australia, Miley was part of the tight-knit, beach-loving Hemsworth family, a again. Quickly reestablishing their engaged status, the "Wrecking Ball" singer emerged in early 2016 with a ring on her finger.
As a year passed, and then another, and Miley insisted she was in no rush to get married, they made it official on December 23, 2018, as they lost their Malibu home to a fire and fueled their desire to finally say " I agree".

Miley told Vanity Fair's March 2019 issue that she felt "Zero percent different. I'd say losing the house changed us a lot more than getting married. We've been wearing rings forever and I definitely didn't need them anyway. Actually, it's a little out of place for me."
Maybe too much. Because after barely eight months as husband and wife, and after spending the better part of 10 years together, Miley and Liam have split. He filed for divorce in August and terms were finalized in January 2020.
Ultimately, there was "too much conflict," Miley said on The Howard Stern Show in December 2020.
