Many of us travel to the same parts of the world every year because they are known to be totally stunning, be it Rome, Tokyo or Rio de Janeiro.
And we would not be to blame, as there are many popular tourist destinations that boast gorgeous natural beauty and architectural delights.
But, this means that there are some parts of the planet that many of us never explore, and we are missing out.
While the blue water and sandy beaches are beautiful, we bet you've never floated in water filled with tiny twinkling lights that look like a galaxy.
And, when you get splashed you'll look like you're painted in thousands of sparkling stars!

The incredible phenomenon is not something out of a storybook, but a real place that you can visit and get the most Instagrammable photos of all time.
The Sea of Stars is located on Vaadhoo Island in the Raa Atoll in the Maldives and while it can be a bit of a hassle to travel to, it is truly an out of this world experience.
Glowing bioluminescent phytoplankton, called Linguldinium poloedrum, fill beach waves in late summer and can be seen on various reefs in the Maldives throughout the ocean.
But, the best-known place to see plankton is in Vaadhoo, about five miles from the Maldivian capital, Male.

When you travel to the island, you should wait until nightfall to see the breathtaking view as the waves lapping the island take on a sparkling phosphorescent blue glow.
It is caused by the small microorganisms that float in the water and that are charged with electrical impulses during the day.
The effect is a magical blue glow that looks like a sparkling night sky in the ocean.
It looks like something out of a fantasy novel to us!
Travelers can travel to the resplendent Vaadhoo Beach by speedboat from the Maldivian capital in about 15 minutes, luxuo reports.

So if you're looking for a honeymoon destination to travel to, this otherworldly island might just be the one.
Unfortunately, as the Sea of Stars is a natural phenomenon, there is no guarantee that you will be able to see it when you travel to the island.
Conditions must be right for the bright constellations to closely resemble other beautiful natural phenomena such as the Northern Lights.
Accommodation is available on the island if you wish to stay longer.
TripAdvisor states that there are four resorts to stay in Vaadhoo, including the Adaaran Prestige Vadoo.

In a review of the hotel on TripAdvisor, one guest wrote: “This is the only resort that allows you to experience the phenomenon called phytoplankton. Marine organisms that glow in the dark. The best season to enjoy the view is from November to March.
“The resort is a paradise on earth. You can spend a day lazing around here. There is not much activity to do at the resort except spend a lot of time in the water.”
