CANARY ISLANDS7 Las Palmas de Gran Canaria
Next January 5 SS. MM. The Three Kings of the East will get into their vehicles to tour the five districts of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria from 11:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. An intense day that will start once Melchor, Gaspar and Baltasar receive the key to the city from the hands of the mayor, Augusto Hidalgo.
The most anticipated day for all the boys and girls will begin with the reception of the Three Wise Men. At 11:00 a.m., and only on Canarian Television, it will be possible to see and follow how the mayor of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, accompanied by the councilor Inmaculada Medina, as well as the president of the Port Authority, Luis Ibarra, and the President of Casa Galicia, Albino Aneiros, hands over the key to the city to the monarchs after disembarking at Puerto de La Luz and Las Palmas.
Next, Melchor, Gaspar and Baltasar will get into their three vehicles to start the tour that will take them through the main roads and avenues of the different districts of the capital. Led by the heralding float and backed by firefighters and a police escort, they will divide the route starting in the lower area of the city, in the morning (from 11:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.), and later visiting the upper area, in afternoon hours (from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.).
Thus, the royal itinerary will have the Castillo de La Luz as its starting point and will go through the streets Juan Rejón, Albareda, Parque Santa Catalina, León y Castillo, Parque San Telmo and Francisco Gourié to reach the Pérez Galdós Theater and go up the Autovía del center (GC 110) to the El Batán roundabout. After touring El Batán, the delegation will go down the GC 110 to visit the San Juan neighbourhood. You will take the downtown highway again to join the Avenida Marítima through the Mercado de Vegueta, Alcalde Díaz Saavedra Navarro, reach Hoya de la Plata and enter through Pedro Hidalgo. In Tres Palmas you will go up to Calle Andrés Alvarado Janina. Later, you will head towards Martín Freire and Paseo de San José. It will go down Eufemiano Jurado to Córdoba Street to end the morning session on Málaga Street.
The royal entourage will depart again in the afternoon from the La Minilla Shopping Center to tour the upper area of the city, crossing the streets of Habana, Carretera de Chile, Almansa, Simancas, Plaza del Pilar, Numancia, José Sánchez Peñate, the roundabout of the Alfredo Kraus Auditorium and again José Sánchez Peñate to enter the Autovía del Norte. Once you arrive at the roundabout of the Doctor Negrín Hospital, you will go along the first section of Avenida Juan Carlos I to the neighborhood of El Pilar, La Feria del Atlántico, Las Borreras, Avenida Pintor Felo Monzón and Hoya Andrea. It will continue to Tamaraceite (GC 300) until it reaches the bus station and circulate through Lucy Cabrera Suárez and Pintor Pepe Dámaso streets to return through Lomo Los Frailes, Almatriche, Recta de los Tarahales, La Paterna and Lomo Apolinario. It will continue through Cruz de Piedra, Avenida de Escaleritas, Zaragoza, Don Pedro Infinito and Doctor Marañón. You will go to Miller Bajo via Divina Pastora to the Castillo de Mata Museum. You will take the Carretera General del Norte in the direction of El Polvorín. It will continue through Las Rehoyas, the Electra roundabout and pass through Mariucha, Obispo Romo, Zaragoza, Echegaray and Barranquillo de Don Zoilo streets to conclude the afternoon session in Paseo de Chil.
In no case will the royal entourage make stops or stop during the development of the route, but it will go at a leisurely pace so that it can be seen by passers-by.
The magic can also be experienced from home because that same afternoon a special of "Amelia in the city of illusion" will hit the screens, through Canarian Television, starting at 3:30 p.m. The Teatro Pérez Galdós and Clapso Producciones, thanks to the agreement they have with the City Council of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, will broadcast one of the shows that has occupied the stages of the coliseum this December, the only show that will also be followed by Melchor, Gaspar and Baltasar.
To say goodbye, SS.MM., in collaboration with the Casa de Galicia and the municipal security services, will walk through the districts of the city on January 6. After a night of intense work distributing gifts, the Three Wise Men and their traveling companions will tour the capital's neighborhoods again on a Royal Route that will put an end to a year that is once again marked by the exceptional character due to the insistence of the pandemic.
It should be remembered that to animate the days prior to the arrival of Melchor, Gaspar and Baltasar, a "Christmas for all" will fill the streets of the city with color, music and illusion with different routes of the Christmas float, from 11 a.m. :00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., on January 2, 3 and 4.
From the organization they insist on calling for responsibility and remember the mandatory use of masks outdoors and the maintenance of safety distances.
