Social Security: What day of the month is the paternity benefit charged?

Paternity leave often changes payday, this is because the National Social Security Institute (INSS) has established a specific day to carry it out, but this will depend on whether it is a weekend or not. or a festive date. It is not a specific date of the month, as it could be, for example, every day of the 28th.

The father who has been granted paternity leave should know that, usually, he will receive the payment of this benefit the first days of the month following his approval. Although the payment by Social Security, as such, is made before, at the end of the previous month, since, depending on the bank of which you are a client, it will be reflected in the client's bank account.

In addition, it should be noted that in order to receive said payment, a series of essential requirements and obligations must be met with the INSS in order to continue accessing this benefit. What is the day of payment by Social Security?

The General Treasury of the Social Security (TGSS) establishes the last business day of each month as the payment date for the paternity benefit. This does not mean that the money is deposited on the 30th or 31st, since it will depend on whether that day is a holiday or our bank decides to advance or postpone the deposit to the next business day.

This is the last working day of the month in which you are, regardless of whether it is from Monday to Friday or the exact day on which the working month ends. This means, for example, that Social Security will pay paternity leave to those parents who are beneficiaries of it on September 30, Thursday, the last day of the month coinciding with the day marked as 'working'.

What if the last business day is a holiday?

But this does not always happen, since, in the case of next October, the INSS will not pay these paternity leaves on the 31st, this being the last day of the month, because it is Sunday. In this case, Social Security will advance the payment of the benefit two days, transferring the amount to each bank on Friday, October 29.

What day is paternity leave charged?

These two concepts must be differentiated, the day of payment of paternity leave by Social Security is not the same as the day on which it is collected. The banks that take 24 hours to make the payments effective, and that, therefore, their clients will receive the paternity leave benefit next October 1, Friday, are: Banco Santander, Cajamar, Caixabank, Bankia and Kutxabank . In order to receive it the next day, you must take into account that it must be a business day, since, otherwise, they would have to wait until the next business day.

Finally, we must also highlight those banking entities that take 48 hours to make the payment of the benefit effective, being Liberbank and Banco Sabadell. In this case, a modification must be highlighted, since, as the payment by Social Security is made on a Thursday, two days later it is a Saturday, and, therefore, the beneficiaries of this aid will have to wait, at least , until Monday, October 4 to be able to collect your benefit.
