The maternity and paternity benefit is presented as one of the most important aids when we become parents. In fact, for many families who do not have the possibility of saving, it is the only way they have to support themselves while they share those 16 weeks of work leave due to the birth of their child.

However, this is becoming a problem due to the blockage that Social Security has in paying the aid. In fact, there are people who denounce delays of even more than six months in a Facebook profile that acts as a forum for those affected by the benefits of said entity.

Although this delay has occurred in several municipalities and communities (such as Gerona or La Rioja), at this time they would have already been resolved, except in Madrid due to the volume of files they have in process. Due to his current situation (large family, mortgage, etc.), he had no other option, since otherwise he would have had to resort to his grandparents to cover the expenses until receiving the disbursement.

How to proceed if I am waiting for the resolution, the payment or I am going to request the benefit?

According to the Spanish Federation of Large Families, delays occur, above all, in those applications that are made on paper through physical registration; On the other hand, the benefits that are sent electronically are more agile to process and are in "more reasonable" resolution terms. For this reason, for those new applications, online submission is recommended, since the process of automating the management of the files is much more agile and the resolution period is faster.

If the application has already been submitted, it must be taken into account that the resolutions are made only by electronic headquarters, that is, written notifications are no longer sent to the address. For this reason, it is recommended to consult electronically through the Social Security portal, which can be accessed with or without an electronic certificate, by registering in the Cl@ve system.
